The company, Pure Forms, was founded by Ben Mathews of San Antonio, Texas. Ben is an industry veteran in the lighting space with a background in supply chain, new product development, and engineering. He previously worked at his family's high-end architectural lighting company, where he received multiple patents and won several prestigious awards, including SSL lighting awards and a German Design award.

Since starting Pure Forms, Ben Mathews has received two patents with several pending. The desk lamp's folding mechanism and dual light source design are patented.

After leaving his family's lighting company in 2017 and running a standalone lighting distribution company, Ben was exposed to a wide range of new products. This experience inspired him to return to product design, leading to the founding of Pure Forms in 2022. The downlight and desk lamp products have been in design for five years, reflecting Ben's commitment to innovation and pushing the field further.
